Arusha National Park
About Arusha National Park
Arusha National Park is a small 137 km2 park but has excellent sights, including Mount Meru, the fourth highest peak in Africa (4566m). When entering Arusha National Park, the transition between urban chaos and pristine mountain hiking paths is very obvious and abrupt. The breathtaking landscapes range from the Meru Crater in the west, the Ngurdoto Crater in the south-east, to the grasslands and the lakes of Momella in the north-east. Visitors are thrilled. Ngurdoto Crater, often called Little Ngorongoro, with its swamp-filled floor, is also sheltered by it. The black & white Colobus monkeys, small predators, giraffes, elephants and buffaloes are animals that can be found in the park, among others. As a starting point for your trip to acclimatise after a long international flight, the park is excellent. You can see the majestic Kilimanjaro in the distance on a clear day with a bit of luck.
