Tarangire National Park

About Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is around 100 kilometers from Arusha on the way to Manyara, Ngorongoro, and the Serengeti. Tarangire National Park, located in northern Tanzania, has an area of 2,850 km2. It is Tanzania’s sixth largest national park and offers unrivaled elephant sightings – yep, it is estimated that the park is home to the highest number of elephants in northern Tanzania – over 2,500 – and this figure is expanding quickly by an estimated 6% per year. Elephant herds can number up to 600 elephants.

The Tarangire River is also situated in this park. This river winds through the center of the park, offering animal nourishment and excellent viewing for visitors. Huge herds of animals and birds converge along this river every day so you won’t miss anything for sure. Many Baobab trees are also available, amazing trees that can survive for thousands of years. In the rainy seasons, species can be observed, but the abundance of biodiversity during the dry seasons appears to be better.

During the rainy season, the seasonal visitors scatter over a 20,000 sq km range until they exhaust the green plains and the river calls once more. The swamps, tinged green year round, are the focus for 550 bird varieties, the most breeding species in one habitat anywhere in the world. Pythons climb trees, as do its lions and leopards, lounging in the branches where the fruit of the sausage tree disguises the twitch of a tail.

Excellent Customer Service and Support

We had a 7 days luxury safari with Meijo Safaris, we celebrated our honeymoon with a well-arranged itinerary. We had a chance to visit Tarangire, Serengeti, Ngororongoro and Lake Natron.
We received an excellent service throughout our safari, the lodges was very nice and friendly as we also had many animals visiting near the lodges.

Meijo magic in Tanzania!

I can highly recommend Meijo Safaris. We booked ‘The Best of Safari, Lake Eyasi & Lake Natron’ with mid-range accommodation.
Meijo is a small company that gives you the personal touch. I was impressed that Daudi, the owner, met us at the airport and saw us off the following day. He also met us on our return.
